‘The Simpsons’ New Milhouse Voice Actor Has a Connection to Two of the ‘90s Best Comedies
While there was no plume of white smoke wafting from the chimney of Springfield’s cracker factory, the conclave of producers at The Simpsons have finally announced a new voice actor for everyone’s favorite blue-haired dud, Milhouse Van Houten.
Last November, longtime Simpsons cast member Pamela Hayden, who voiced Milhouse, Jimbo Jones and Rod Flanders, made headlines when she Mo Collins of MADtv and Parks and Recreation fame, but Milhouse has been largely absent from the series, except for the Disney+ specials in which the character was still being voiced by Hayden.

Well now we know who will inherit the role of Bart’s best friend/ALF Pog connoisseur. Per Entertainment Weekly, the new voice of Milhouse is Kelly Macleod. Oddly, with the exception of a 2009 short film, Macleod doesn’t really have any acting credits to her name. She is primarily known as a musician, having fronted the band Private Life.
Although Macleod doesn’t seem to have worked in comedy much, interestingly, Private Life has a connection to two of the very best movie comedies of the ‘90s. Their song “Touch Me” appeared on the soundtrack for Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
And the same song was also an important part of Wayne’s World. As you may recall, Wayne’s girlfriend Cassandra (Tia Carrere) covered the track with her band Crucial Taunt.
Macleod does have a connection to The Simpsons already; she performed the song “Two Badges, One Mind” in the Season 33 episode “Bart the Cool Kid,” in which Bart befriends a kid influencer voiced by The Weeknd.
Macleod’s take on Milhouse will debut on this Sunday’s season finale, which is titled “Estranger Things.” But reportedly, the character only has one line in the episode, and it’s set in some kind of a flash-forward, so Milhouse, Bart and Lisa will all be adults.
This will no doubt make it tough for fans to properly evaluate how the new voice stacks up against the old one. Of course, we do have some other versions of adult Milhouse to compare it to…
