‘King of the Hill’ Fans Can’t Believe That This Character Is Still Alive in the Reboot
Reviving beloved cartoon shows is obviously nothing new. After all, there have been at least one baffling Canadian pizza restaurant.
But the King of the Hill reboot is unique in the sense that time has ed in the world of the show. Instead of picking up where the series left off when it ended in 2009, the Hulu iteration of King of the Hill will take place in the present day — or at the very least, a few years in the past, it’s not exactly clear.

We do know that Bobby is the character-defying encroachment of modern technology.
But while Hank, Dale and Boomhauer clearly look older, Bill Dauterive looks pretty much the same, which is especially surprising considering that some folks never expected him to live at all. On Reddit, a King of the Hill fan questioned, “I don’t want to be too grim, but is anyone else surprised that Bill is still alive?”
They do make a good point. In retrospect, it is kind of shocking that Bill survived that one episode where he ate all the hot dogs.
More than one person theorized that perhaps Bill’s longevity and youthful appearance could be a result of his mysterious U.S. Army injections. If they weren’t actually placebos, perhaps they were really part of a plan to turn him into some kind of aquatic super soldier, as Dale claimed.
In addition to the “Operation Infinite Walrus” theory, fans offered a number of other suggestions for why Bill seems to be doing so well. “The other three have put in a lot of work keeping Bill alive over the years. Why would they have stopped?” one person proposed. Another argued that “Bill will outlive them all. His misery keeps him going. That and knowing he is the last Dauterive.” More pessimistically, someone wrote that there may likely be just “another year or two before (Bill’s) first major heart attack.”
On the other hand, Bill did show that he has the resolve and willpower to make healthy decisions when he reversed his diabetes and then beat the crap out of his naysaying doctor.
He may even live long enough to get his own spin-off, possibly involving walrus mutation.
