Do you Norbit? The 2007 comedy starring Eddie Murphy that featured bad fat suit drag and earned a Brian Wilson sure did.
Shortly after news of his death on Wednesday, an unearthed interview in which Wilson dubbed Norbit his favorite film made the rounds on social media, prompting fans to watch the critically panned flick for themselves to much predictable disappointment. “Missing Brian Wilson like a mfer rn,” read a one-star review on Letterboxd, while another, which gave the movie just half a star, offered their condolences to the artist. “RIP Brian Wilson,” they wrote.
Johnny Carson also had Wilson’s stamp of approval. As several fans recently discovered, the songwriter once penned an ode for the Tonight Show host. Wilson wrote of how 1977’s “Johnny Carson” came to be, saying, “One morning I was on my way to the studio and I’d been thinking about how I’d seen Johnny on TV the night before and I said to myself, ‘Goddamn it! There’s gotta be some song about Johnny Carson. I mean, he’s been an idol of so many people for so many years and why not a song about Johnny Carson?!”
Much like Wilson’s love of Norbit and ‘70s late-night TV, we’re sure you’ll love these hilarious tweets. Today’s funniest include those about sentient hot dogs, JFK’s Addison Rae moment and a beautiful woman named “Scam Likely.”
