This Is the ‘Seinfeld’ Actor Who’s Voicing Dale Gribble in the ‘King of the Hill’ Revival

The King of the Hill conclave has sent up a metaphorical plume of Manitoba cigarette smoke with the announcement that they have selected a new Dale Gribble.

The biggest question surrounding the  play a whole lot differently in 2025That’s because just months after the reboot was first announced in 2023, the actor behind Dale, Johnny Hardwick, ed away at the age of 64.

Even though the part was originally offered to City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold star Daniel Stern, it’s pretty hard to imagine anyone other than Hardwick voicing Dale. But according to Variety, the role will now be played by none other than Toby Huss. The outlet noted that the big announcement would take place at today’s King of the Hill  at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, but apparently they just decided to go ahead and ruin it anyway.

Tapping Huss to take over from Hardwick makes a lot of sense considering that he was already a part of the King of the Hill family. Huss voiced Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill in the original show — but The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng is now taking over the role of Kahn, and Cotton died in the show’s final season. So barring a shocking twist involving black magic, presumably Hank’s dad won’t be in the new show.

It should also be noted that Huss played Hank’s fellow propane salesman, and one-time amateur improv comic, Joe Jack.

Aside from King of the Hill, Huss has had a long, impressive career, appearing in movies like Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and shows like Reno 911!, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Carnivale. And, of course, Seinfeld fans will recall that he was Elaine’s boyfriend Jack, aka “The Wiz,” on Seinfeld.

As an added bonus, ensuring that Huss will still be part of the cast means that if the King of the Hill reboot ever runs out of ideas, they can always introduce the Ghost of Frank Sinatra as a new character.
